The feedback we received from attendees of our webinar with Alteryx on November 30, 2017 was tremendous. We consider it a huge success! In case you missed it, the webinar focused on not only the challenges most companies face when implementing self-service data analytics, but how to overcome them.
Here are the top four takeaways from the webinar:
1. Differing perspectives. Everybody knows a company’s data is one of its most important assets, but IT and the line-of-business leaders often have differing perspectives. We talked about how and why both perspectives are important.
o Businesses need it from an insight perspective, so they have the ability to learn and grow from their own experience.
o IT needs it from a security perspective so that they can protect all the data generated from the business itself.
2. Traditional methods are broken. The conventional approach takes too long to draw meaningful analytical conclusions. In many cases, even a single analytical task involves IT, complex data work and sometimes data scientists before the line-of-business is able to leverage analytics for decision making.
3. Effective self-service data analytics. Virtually everybody agrees self-service data analytics can bring value to the business because it enables faster insights. We talked about why and then presented 6 characteristics a self-service data analytics platform must have to satisfy both the line-of-business and IT leaders: (1) Data prep and blending, (2) Descriptive, (3) Spatial, (4) Predictive, (5) Prescriptive & (6) Cognitive.
4. Why Alteryx? The platform makes data workers more effective by reducing the time to prepare, blend, and analyze data by 85%. It can connect to virtually any data source and can be used by all data workers, from non-technical analysts, to statisticians, programmers and data scientists. IT organizations have embraced it too because it can help support control and governance of the data.
Many thanks to Scott Trauthen, Alteryx’s Marketing Director who led the webinar, and most importantly THANK YOU for joining us. If you’re interested in learning more about implementing self-service analytics, or have suggested topics for future webinars, please contact me at [email protected].
